Today, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia Jama Abdullahi Mohamedi (with residence in Ankara) presented the copies of his credentials to Gulshat Mammedova, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
In his addressing, the diplomat noted that the Republic of Somalia attaches particular importance to relations with Muslim countries, including Central Asian states.
– It is a great honor for me to be the first Somali diplomat accredited in a Central Asian country. Turkmenistan, as a neutral state, stands for peaceful settlement of conflicts, through dialogue. The neutrality of your state should serve as an example for other countries,” the envoy said.
The countries not only established diplomatic relations, but also collaborate in the framework of large international organizations, such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
In turn, the speaker of the national parliament expressed hope for a fruitful development of relations between Turkmenistan and Somalia in the economy and humanitarian sphere and wished the ambassador success in his new post.
