The village is home to the largest Turkmen diaspora in the Astrakhan Region. A school construction plan was initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the project was implemented by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The school is named after the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi, who has repeatedly visited Astrakhan province, and it was here that the first collection of the poet’s works in Turkmen was published a century ago.

Recently, in May 2019, in Ashgabat, during a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, a Memorandum on the establishment of the Turkmen-Astrakhan Joint Council on Entrepreneurship was signed.
