A fairy tale of the Viennese ball: greetings from the megacity of the Danube to the Turkmen capital

At the end of October in Ashgabat the IV Viennese ball will take place. The mayor of the Austrian capital Michael Ludwig has sent his message to organizers and participants of the annual action. «The Ashgabat Viennese ball is a special greeting of the megacity of the Danube to your city of culture», Dr. Ludwig has noted.

– Vienna is known not only as city of musical classicism where Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart worked. It is also the world «capital of balls» where it is already for the second century music of such outstanding Austrian composers as Johann Strauss and Joseph Lanner – founders of the Viennese waltz sounds.

The composition «On the fine blue Danube» by Johann Strauss, written in 1866, became an informal hymn of Vienna and is the musical message which is understand all over the world.

According to Michael Ludwig, though the classics also remains a core of the Viennese ball, for last decades modern music has occupied its place in it. Thus, Vienna supports the tradition of organization of the Viennese balls in other countries as a way to develop friendly relations between people, cultural, creative and human contacts.

Michael Ludwig wished organizers of the Ashgabat Viennese ball in big successes, and all visitors of forthcoming evening – huge pleasure from waltz.
