Berdimuhamedov launched the region’s largest gas-chemical complex

Today, on October 17, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov opened the polymer plant in the seaside village of Kiyanly in western Turkmenistan and personally launched production of polyethylene and polypropylene, TDH state news agency reported.

The cost of this big investment project is more than 3 billion 400 million US dollars. The State Concern Turkmengaz completed project together with foreign partners – LG International Corp. and Hyundai Engineering (the Republic of Korea) as well as TOYO Engineering Corporation (Japan).

Production capacities of new export-oriented complex were designed for processing of five billion cubic meters of gas per year. High technology equipment of the facility allows producing 381 thousand tons of high-density polyethylene and 81 thousand tons of polypropylene per year as well as other products. (For comparison, in January-September 2018, 63.3 thousand tons of polypropylene was produced in Turkmenistan).

In addition, up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of marketable gas is scheduled to be sent to gas pipeline systems for use as a fuel.

At this high technology facility, more than 1,000 job opportunities were created.

The ecological status of the industrial project is symbolized by the fact that immediately after the opening of the plant Berdimuhamedov went to the place of tree planting event, having planted the first tree. The diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan and foreign guest as well as all participants of the opening ceremony have joined the tree planting event.
