Turkmenistan, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and a number of other international organizations will jointly develop a roadmap to implement the National Action Plan for the realization of the rights of children in Turkmenistan for the period 2018-2022.
At a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with participation of specialists and head of the UNICEF office in Ashgabat Ms.Shahin Nilofer, details of the joint work were discussed.
At the meeting, the need for a technical working group on the implementation of the Plan under the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Ensuring the Implementation of Turkmenistan’s International Obligations in the Field of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law was voiced.
The joining of other international organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and others were discussed.
Shahin Nilofer stressed that a joint meeting of national and international structures that can join the implementation of the Plan should be held as soon as possible and, following the results of the talks, adopt a program of joint actions for the near future.
In addition, UNICEF representatives highly appreciated the National Plan of Action for the implementation of the rights of children in Turkmenistan for 2018-2022, noting its detailed thoughtfulness and connection with the sustainable development goals.
