On 11 July 2018, Astana will host ABU Radio Song Festival, organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). The competition is similar to Eurovision Song Contest, but designed for the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
Turkmenistan will be represented at the song contest by the famous singer Ahmet Atajanov, the author of many popular songs about the Asian Games “Ashgabat-2017”. One of the last bright wins in Ahmet’s creative career is the Grand Prix of the youth music contest “Ýylyň parlak ýyldyzy-2017” (Star of 2017).
In the vocal contest show in the Kazakh capital young performers from ten countries – Turkey, Nepal, Maldives, Kazakhstan, India, China, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Vietnam – will compete for the title of the best performers.
– Every ABU Member country has super talented young men and women just burning to burst onto the international music scene. The ABU Radio Song Festival is the vehicle they are looking for, said Olya Booyar, ABU Head of Radio.
According to her, the Radio Song Festival is the perfect opportunity for members to unearth new talent and showcase their country’s young music scene to the rest of the Asia-Pacific and around the world.
In addition to the host country, the festival will be broadcast in radio format in Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia and the Maldives.
