The management staff for the World Weightlifting Championship that will be held in Ashgabat on November 1-10, 2018, is working intensively to prepare and organize the upcoming competitions.
It includes representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, as well as a number of other ministries, the State Committee for Tourism, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the National Olympic Committee, the National Weightlifting Federation of Turkmenistan, and higher educational institutions of the country.
Each ministry and organization is in charge with preparation issues on its profile, such as providing medicines and catering service, athletes outfit and uniforms for service staff, opening mobile points-of-sale, logistics, etc.
In the future, young volunteers who have shown themselves well at the Asian Games Ashgabat-2017 held last September will join the preparation campaign.
Competitions will be held in the arena of the Martial Arts Complex of the Olympic city of the capital. This super-modern sports facility is designed for 2,500 spectators. Its design and construction, as well as of other objects of the Olympic city, were conducted in full compliance with the technical regulations of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.
For the participants and guests of the competitions, there are all-necessary conditions here such as comfortable changing rooms, more than 30 shower cabins, bath and sauna. On the second and third floors of the complex are dining rooms for a total of 448 seats.
For the convenience of the media representatives, there are well-equipped press center with a dedicated high-speed Internet line and conference room. There are several medical centers with up-to-date equipment in the sports complex, which are necessary for rendering specialized medical assistance.
It is expected that about 800 athletes from 100 countries will participate at the championship. Representatives of foreign media, which to cover the course of the championship, will be the guests of the capital also.
Taking into account that in Turkmenistan special attention is paid to the issues of anti-doping support for the competitions, international experts on doping control will be involved to work in the Doping Control Center of the Olympic city. This, in turn, will ensure a clean and fair fight between weightlifters.
