A 10-day technical course for weightlifting coaches was held in Ashgabat, supported by the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan and the IOC Olympic Solidarity to enhance the professional level of coaching staff for the upcoming IWF World Championships in this November.
Over 20 participants from all regions of the country were tutored on sports diets, on physiology and biochemistry. The presentation – introduced by Mr.Andras Szabo, Hungary – included many important topics, such as the changing technical rules; basics of biomechanics; updates on selection methods and up to date expectations towards coaches and their roles.
The theoretical part of the course also included the training of coaches on weight control and changes in the bodyweight categories.
The aim of IOC Olympic Solidarity is to organize assistance for all the National Olympic Committees, through multi-faceted programmes prioritizing athlete development, training of coaches and sports administrators, and promoting the Olympic ideals.
