Turkmen weightlifters prepare for World Championship in Ashgabat

From 1st to 10th November this year, the capital of Turkmenistan will host the world championship in weightlifting. Turkmen athletes conduct intensive training for these large-scale competitions.

Within a month, from April 26th to May 26th, 15 weightlifters with the support of three coaches are attending training camps in the Olympic town of Ashgabat. In addition to the mentors of the national team Agamurat Dzhanmuradov and Umurbek Bazarbayev, the sports master of the international class from Turkey Jafer Topchu also works with the athletes.

The favorites of the upcoming championship are one of the strongest sportsmen of the country – the master of sports of the international class, the silver and bronze medalist of the Asian Championship 2017, Rejepbay Rejepov, the bronze medalist of the Asian Weightlifting Championships Yulduz Dzhumabaeva, the winner of the Islamic Games of 2017 Polina Guryeva and the silver medalist of the World Championship, bronze winner of the Asian Championships, 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Christina Shermetova.

From 4th to 26th of March a group of 20 athletes and 2 coaches took training in the city of Shymkent, and from 16th to 25th of April 16 sportsmen with three mentors practiced in Tashkent.

The athletes taking part in trainings these days were included in the team of Turkmenistan in weightlifting according to the results of the championship, which was held on January 17th to 21st.
